Stay in this unique nine room ancestral manor house with rich history and exquisite gardens.
Kandy House
SRI LANKA
The hotel is carved out of one of Sri Lanka’s most entrancing manor houses. Dating back to 1804, it looks like a modest single storey villa with a series of nine gentle arches and a low slung pitched roof, yet as you walk through the building, it splits into two floors around a central open-to-the sky courtyard.
The natural jungle-edged setting and six-acre gardens teem with wildlife. An over 12s policy makes this a popular hotel with honeymooners and couples.
The service style is discreet, flexible and personalised. The manager is a fountain of knowledge on the local area, and the larger Ultra rooms are serviced by butlers. There are bicycles on standby, and staff will act as guides if required.
The vast swimming pool has a lost in the jungle feel, tucked into the lower garden and edged by thick vegetation. There’s a paddy-view ambalama for Ayurvedic massages and yoga.
We all had a wonderful stay here, and we all indulged in a fantastic massage in the dreamiest of settings.
The staff are so friendly and as a family, we rated the dinner & lunch here the best out of our 16 night tour.
